Gelagar IC 1.0 is a high-performance instant-dissolving agar manufactured by the Italian company B&V. For maximum gelling effect and to avoid clumping, it should be thoroughly pre-mixed with 3–5 parts of sugar before adding to the liquid. In accordance with EU Directive No. 231/2012, agar is assigned the number E406 in the list of permitted food additives.
